Project Description
The existing “1928” multi-story building has a variety of building maintenance, safety and functional issues that are ongoing and have costly yearly repairs.
The Sebeka School District Community approved taking down the “1928” building and replacing with a one level classroom addition. Also as part of the project, a new entry/ student commons and gym/ performance space will be provided for Phy Ed as well as for theater performances.
An additional element unique to this project, was the preservation of a WPA Mural incorporated in the original 1928 building that was slated for reconstruction. There was no way move the original paint on plaster mural without significant degradation, so this roughly 40' foot mural was painstakingly photographed and reprinted at 1:1 resolution and installed in the hall along the east wall of the new Multi-purpose Performance Space.
